DONATION TO SAFE HOUSE FOR THE CHILDREN DAY

On the occasion of the International Day of the Child, president of Palilula Municipality Boban Džunić and his associates presented the donation to the children and administration of the Safe House. Clothing, toys and school supplies, according to Ivana Jovic, coordinator of The Office for youth, for the children of this institution were collected by volunteers of Palilula Municipality. Children who reside in this institution, from the beginning of the year and there have been over thirty and currently there are five, any help is welcomed because usually they come only in the clothes they are wearing at that very moment, says director Sonja Scekic. Palilula Municipality otherwise very often visits the children and women housed in this center and helps to its possible extent.

According to president Boban Džunić, Palilula Municipality is very active in analyzing social needs of its citizens and social care of children. Material impoverishment families, parents struggle to meet the existential needs are the causes of the weakening of the function of family and parental competencies, neglecting of child care. All this causes different forms of socially unacceptable and violent behavior. Safe House is one of the institutions of social protection in the municipality of Palilula, which successfully realizes its function and with project support enhances programme development. Safe House was opened in 2011. From then until now, the salvation from the abuse it has been sought by about 400 women. Children who reside in it there have creative workshops, as well as continued work with a psychologist. It is equipped with a children playground, and computer room, so that women can learn how to work on the computer.

International Children's Day is an annual international event that is celebrated on 20 November. It is established by the General Assembly of the United Nations in 1954 with the goal that all states will celebrate it on the same day. It is designed to promote interaction and understanding among children and the welfare of children in the world. This day is celebrated also to draw public attention to the company's obligations towards children, as well as the current problems that children face. At the right moment is the nice gesture of the authorities of Nis Palilula Municipality.
